We'll be setting up the room before the event. Come early to get first dibs on on donuts and meet your mentors.
Laptop Setup & Command-Line Tutorial

All students will get their computers set up for the workshop, and those who want to can get a refresher on using the command line.

What is free and open source software, and why are we so enthusiastic about it?
Communications Tools
1:00pm–1:30pm
How do free and open source projects communicate? We'll cover how to use mailing lists, IRC and issue trackers.
Lunch

Introduction to version control using git and Github.
Career Panel
3:30pm–4:15pm
Hear from free and open source software professionals about their experiences in the community, ask questions, and learn how you can get involved.
Finding a Project
4:15pm–5:00pm
We'll find projects to contribute to, evaluate them, and reach out.
Additional Activities
5:00pm–7:00pm
Individual mentors will lead small groups through additional tutorials, including detailed setup for individual projects and more advanced materials.
